Rock Band

(Been meaning to review this app ever since it came out)

Anyway, Rock Band is like all the other Rock Band games for PS2 and other gaming console. You pick an instrument, pick a song, play it, and unlock more things if you do well and not fail. This app has a good selection of songs – from older “classic” rock to newer bands. You also play at different venues, starting with Boston. It gives you a few songs to play, then as you play them you unlock one or two more to play at that specific place. Before you play you also choose the difficulty -easy, medium, or hard. In my opinion I didn’t find hard being that difficult to play, whereas when I play Rockband or Guitar Hero on my PlayStation 2 I don’t do quite as good. Maybe it’s brcause you just have to tap, I don’t really know. I purchased this app when it was on sale. The original price was $9.99, but I got it for about $7. Even with a price at ten dollars, it’s stilll worth the money.

In an unrelated thing, whenever I go to the music store I get a network connection error.

Bubble Wrap

This is another pretty pointless app. All you do is pop bubble wrap. If your waiting for something and have a few minutes to spare on a boring and not so fun game, then this is the app for you!

(yeah, short review)

Movie Tweets

MovieTweets is another simple Twitter app. It gives you a list of current movies that are in theatres (such as Couples Retreat and Law Abiding Citizen) and you can read people’s tweets about them to get an idea if others like it or hated it. You can also tweet in this app about the movies, however when I tried to do this it always crashes for me.

This app is okay. I’d rather stick to an app where you can just view what movies are playing in your area, etc.

iTrends

This is a simple app with a simple function: View Twitter’s trending topics, read Tweets about them, and see why they are trending. You CANNOT tweet, this isn’t an app such as Tweetie or Twitterific. Since this app is self explanitory, let’s move on to the pictures.

Bounce On Lite

Bounce On Lite is sort of like a Mario game – you are an object and need to defeat enemies on your way to find or save someone.

In Bounce On Lite you are a red ball that escaped accidentally from it’s owner and needs to find it’s way back. On the way you encounter different enemies and can collect gems. There is even powerups in different levels. There isn’t much to this game, you just tilt the iPhone/iPod and tap the screen here and there. The graphics are good, it comes with a very basic and easy to understand tutorial, etc. There is also a paid version of this app containing more features and levels.

Overall: 8/10. No comment.

Tweetie 2

The most popular paid Twitter app Tweetie recently got completely redone, given a brand new look, new layout, and tons of other cool features.

First off, this app is like every other Twitter App – gives you the ability to read and post tweets, look at trending topics, etc.

But Tweetie 2 is completely different. This app has cool features unlike any Twitter App. With the flick of a finger basic controls are at your hand such as uploading a picture, adding a link to your “read it later” list, and even seeing the date someone joined Twitter, what user number they are, and even read all tweets mentioning whoevers profile you have up! This Twitter App has everything you could ask for, and is worth the few bucks.

Bloons Tower Defense

You may (or may not) have heard of the poplar Internet game “Bloons Tower Defense”. In the summer it was announced by Digital Goldfish ltd that this game was being developed for the iPhone and iPod Touch. On September 24th the app went live in Apple’s app store. The price of the app is $2.99, a very good price in my opinion.

In this game you can play on 15 dfferent tracks and 50 different levels. Using monkeys and other “weapons” you need to pop all of the bloons. (Not baloons, bloons) For each bloon you pop you get $1 to spend on upgrades, and at the end of the level you get a mininum of $100. (Goes up an extra doller per level) Some bloons are harder to pop than others, and some even have more bloons inside of that one! There is also a few M.O.A.B. (mother of all bloons) in this game, which contain over 100 bloons inside of it. It can be challenging at first – but after you get the basics down and figure out some tactics your good to go!

Please note that this game is brand new so there are a few bugs in this game at the moment. Hopefully the next update will fix this.

Rating: 9.5/10. The built in music is annoying and the random crashes can get annoying, although they happen rarely and your progress is saved so you loose nothing.

PapiCatch

PapiCatch is a simple and addicting game from the same creator of other Papi games such as PapiJump and PapiMissile.

In this app you slide Mr. Papi left or right trying to catch as many burgers as you can. The more you get in a row without missing one, the more points you get due to a combo. But be careful, they come fast! You also want to watch out for the obstacles that are constantly thrown at you – if you get hit three times, it’s game over. Luckily you can get a life or two back – if a heart is thrown at you, try to get it! It gives you a life back.

Overall: 9/10

9/11 Numbers

9/11 Numbers is an app containing many facts about September 11th, 2001 revolving around numbers, such as how many people died, how many funerals the mayor attended, and all sorts of cool and sad facts. It has a pretty basic and easy understanding layout. It quite quickly with no wait at all. The only downside is once you read all the facts, you can’t really use it for more, so it’s technically a one time serve app.
